Project Name: “Market Development in Safe Poultry and Poultry Products” sub-project

Project Objective:
The value chain sub-project entitled “Market Development of Safe Poultry and Poultry Products” supported by the project will be developed sustainably resulting in 80 percent increase in production of entrepreneurs, minimum 30 percent increase in sales price of produce and 20 percent increase in business profit.

Project Goal:
The income, food security and nutritional status of the marginal population, small farmers and associated backward and forward market entrepreneurs under the scope of Poultry Value Chain Development Project will be steadily increased. That is, as a result of the implementation of the project, the income of 70 percent of the entrepreneurs will increase by at least 50 percent and 30 percent of the project members will be able to add safe and nutritious food to their regular diet.

Project Brief:
Poultry is reared almost at home in the working area. There are few commercial farmers who supply chickens and eggs to the market. There is a huge demand for native poultry and eggs in the market. But day by day native species of poultry are disappearing. The main reason for this is unplanned poultry farming. The death rate of chickens is very high due to non-scientific poultry rearing. If rural farmers can be trained in poultry farming and provided with nutritional feed, medicine and vaccines, the death rate of chickens will be greatly reduced. This will increase indigenous chicken farms in the villages, increase the supply of meat and eggs to the market and create more employment. As a result, nutrition and food supply will be easily available to consumers. The project has been providing various types of training to the farmers along with technical assistance. Under the project, skill development of farmers through training, organization of vaccine and deworming camps through LSP, establishment of vaccine clinics to ensure supply of vaccines, support to chicken coop makers for construction of modern chicken houses, ensuring improved breeds of chickens and ducklings to farmers, farms Various works are being done including arrangement of contract farming through meat sellers. Along with creating farmer awareness, poultry products are being made available in farm-side markets. Contract farming is making the farm business profitable and getting fair prices. The project is working to access the products produced by the farmers through good agricultural practices in the domestic market as well as in the international market.
